Kinston Native Dr. Justin Tilghman Helps Others Pursue Their Purpose

Dr. Justin Tilghman, a Kinston native and proud alumnus of Kinston High, has dedicated his life to helping others find their purpose and fulfillment. His journey has led him to author a new book titled "Pursuing Your Purpose," which is aimed at guiding readers through a process of self-discovery and intentional living.

Tilghman's passion for helping others find their purpose began during his time at Campbell University and continued through his career in emergency management, where he worked as a paramedic before transitioning to education. Currently working in workforce development, Tilghman has been coaching clients in life and leadership for over a decade.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Tilghman shared his insights on what led him to write the book. "I have really been struck by how many people just kind of go through the motions and don't really know, haven't taken the time to think throughout. What have I been gifted for? How am I wired?" he said. Tilghman believes that many people are successful yet frustrated, overwhelmed, and anxious because they're not living out of how they were created to function.

The book aims to provide a practical way for people to discover their passions and interests and find fulfillment in their lives. "I hope if nothing else, it will start a conversation for them. It will get them thinking seriously about their life," Dr. Tilghman expressed.

Returning to Kinston after his time at Campbell University, Tilghman has become an active member of the community, being involved with Grace Fellowship Church and Hope Prep School. He's also a proud husband to Ellen and father to their two boys, John William and Beckett.

In addition to the book, Dr. Tilghman is also an active life coach, working with clients who are either burnt out at work or overwhelmed with life, helping them identify their core values and align their lives with those values. His ideal clients are working professionals who feel unfulfilled or those just starting their careers looking for guidance.

"Pursuing Your Purpose" is available for those seeking a path to a more intentional and fulfilling life. Dr. Tilghman remains dedicated to adding value to people's lives through his coaching services and hopes this book is just the beginning of his literary contributions.
