Obituary: Constance “Connie” Smith Herring

Grifton – Constance “Connie” Smith Herring, 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the home, 6213 Brassie Dr., Grifton.

Connie was a giver, not a taker and everyone loved her. She loved her family and enjoyed going to the mountains. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Margaret Smith; son, Nicky Harding; stepson, Alan Herring; and brother, Woody Smith and wife, Janie.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Charles T. Herring; daughter Toni Whitfield and husband, Jesse of Bethel; stepson, Charles Herring, Jr. of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Padgett and husband, Spencer of Greenville, and Deborah Griffin of Simpson.
