NWS Morehead City - Tropical Storm Elsa briefing

NWS Morehead City - Tropical Storm Elsa briefing

No big changes with the 11 AM EDT advisory update from the National Hurricane Center. We wanted to provide an update with a full briefing package on what to expect with Tropical Storm Elsa based on the latest guidance.

The forecast still depicts TS Elsa weakening to a depression as it approaches and moves through Central and Eastern NC. However, this does not diminish some of the potential impacts that Eastern NC may experience Thursday into Thursday night.

Heavy rain with localized flash flooding is possible, with up to several inches of rain in heavier downpours. Isolated severe thunderstorms including a few tornadoes are possible.

Gusty winds up to tropical storm force may occur, especially along coastal portions, which may lead to minor water level rises along the Soundside portions of the Outer Banks and the Crystal Coast. Also, high surf and dangerous rip currents will be a threat. Please review the attached full briefing. Our next briefing is scheduled by 7 AM EDT on Wednesday.
