7th annual Stew and Brew happening on Saturday

The seventh annual Stew & Brew fundraiser held by GI Joe’s Military Living History Museum is selling advanced discounted tickets for Eastern Carolina Fish Stew for $10 and can be purchased at GI Joe’s Military Living History Museum, Mother Earth Brewing Tap Room, and Big Game Brewing. The event will be on Saturday, March 13, 2021 with same-day tickets for sale for $15.

“The GI Joe’s Military Living History Museum is important because it provides a history of the many years of service men and women have given over the years,” said Anna Kinsey, committee chair.

The annual fundraiser is held to maintain the museum and to continue to provide assistance to the veterans, including a homeless fund set aside to be used to help with utilities or food for a veteran and their family.

“It is fun and being held for a great purpose,” said Kinsey.

The Stew & Brew event is held in partnership with Mother Earth and was formerly done as a cook-off competition.

“To ensure we are doing everything we can to reduce the risk of exposure, this will be a drive-through event at the museum,” said Kinsey.

In previous years, the Stew & Brew competition was held on the side of Mother Earth, but due to COVID-19, the competition this year had to be held a little differently.

Stew and brewed tea will be available at GI Joe’s Military Living History Museum at 11:00 am on March 13, 2021 and available at the other two locations beginning at noon. For people with egg allergies, a stew will be prepared without eggs at GI Joe’s.

The proceeds from the annual Stew & Brew fundraiser will go to GI Joe’s in support of the veterans.
