Letter to the editor: BLM - The organization is not what you think

In the wake of several high-profile killings of black people by police, the Black Lives Matter Organization (BLM) has taken the world by storm in 2020. You can’t turn on the TV, watch sports, attend a meeting, or drive down the street without encountering BLM in every facet of society. I agree with the statement and belief that black lives matter, but I will never support the BLM organization.

Many folks like to adopt a slogan that anyone of decency could agree with, but that doesn’t necessarily tell you anything about who is behind it, or what the operational goals of the organization are. For full disclosure, I am a white man, but my wife is black, my son is half-black, and any future children we have will be seen as black. I don’t mention this as a gimmick, but only to give some perspective to the reader. Therefore, I certainly am concerned about the future of my family in this great nation, but the goals of BLM are not the way to achieve success. You may be shocked to find out what the organization is truly based upon, and I seek to inform fellow Americans, not to enflame, so hear me out.

Aside from all the rhetoric and protests/riots, and name-calling from all sides, let us truly explore what the BLM movement is, and who the founders are. If you visit the official website, you will find that this is considered a global organization, and it has several doctrines, goals, and beliefs listed under their “About” section. It starts out with positive messages in the first few paragraphs, but uses the word “comrades” several times, which may ring familiar bells to anyone familiar with the Cold War or Marxism. Later, we get to some information that is quite interesting, where the site lists their beliefs and intentions further.

Here are some quotes directly from the BLM site: “makes way for transgender people to participate or lead the way, we disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and villages, we foster a queer-affirming network, we do the work to dismantle cisgender privilege, we affirm the lives of undocumented folks, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in black communities, we are fighting against Democrats or Republicans who don’t share a vision that is radical and intersectional, we know that police don’t keep us safe as long as we continue to pump money into these systems.”

Other sites that have adopted the BLM name call for pushing these doctrines in schools, bringing down the president, and bringing down “heteronormative capitalism”. These are their words, not mine.

While we all can get behind the idea of working to reform police brutality or racism, I don’t think a great deal of the goals have anything to do with saving black lives. Why are they promoting illegal immigration, disrupting the idea of a nuclear family, discussing transgender leadership, attacking black people who believe in American nationalism, and denouncing any politician who does not share their radical views on sex and identity politics? Why do they think people will be safer by defunding police? What does “cisgender privilege” have to do with police brutality or racism? To understand why they push all of these other goals, let us explore who the founders of this movement truly are.

Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tameti, and Alicia Garza are the three primary feminists who founded the global organization of BLM. In an interview with SF Weekly in 2015, Garza told us that “black lives can’t matter under capitalism”. Cullors is a protégé of Eric Mann, a criminal who was a member of the infamous Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist group in the 1970s. In another interview, Cullors told us that the group is made up of “trained Marxists”, and frequently references inspirations in her memoirs like Lenin, Mao, Marx, and many other questionable figures.

In interviews with NPR, she referred to “white psychosis”, and insisted that every white person is racist. All three of these women identify as either “queer” or “transnationalist”, which would suggest that their views on nationalism, patriotism, and heterosexual families are certainly more radical than that of most Americans. How can anyone idolize Lenin, Mao or Marx? Collectively, they enslaved, murdered, starved, displaced, and oppressed an insane amount of their own peoples. Over 100 million people have been killed by these socialist/communist regimes. What kind of mindset would allow an American to champion these infamous dictators and agitators?

The truth is that the very things that would improve the lives of blacks and whites in America are being attacked and politically discouraged by the founders of these movements. Over 40 years ago, the assistant Labor secretary wrote a damning report, warning of the troubles to come from out-of-wedlock birth rates in the black community. At the time, he was alarmed by the fact that about 25% of black children were born into these homes. Fast-forward to 2020, and we find that 70% or more of black children are born out of wedlock. Despite Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society program, and many other boosts, the black family and black marriages have continued to decline in recent decades. The same is starting to erode white families as well. Divorce rates have soared, and family is no longer promoted as a main pillar of society.

As an educator of at-risk youth, I have witnessed the effects of many children, especially our boys, who grow up without a father or stable home life. The data is conclusive that children are far more successful in many areas, who come from two-parent homes with normal structures. Why are we supporting folks who denounce and scoff at the very things that would save our children and our great nation? We need to prosecute criminal behavior from police and seek out the best training available. However, these folks are trying to throw out the baby with the proverbial bathwater.

I don’t see how any normal American, or Christian, can support the goals of the actual BLM movement. They are extremely destructive and counterproductive, once you actually find out what is being promoted. Can’t we support black lives and other black organizations, without supporting the goals of BLM?

The United States is the greatest political experiment in individual freedom in modern history. For all our mistakes, the US is a very young nation, having only existed for little more than a couple of centuries, but our meteoric rise has been amazing. Slavery was ended here but continues around the world in other nations, women’s rights have also seen major victories, and we were proven to be far better than our communist/Marxist foes of the Cold War. We defeated real Nazis in WW2 and rescued many nations from Japanese imperialism. We kept South Korea free and successful, whereas North Korea(with a Chinese Communist influence) is in complete disarray. If not for us, all of Europe would have suffered the same fate as those under the Iron Curtain of the USSR. For all of our other faults and blunders(which every society has), this nation has been a monumental success story.

Everything I mentioned is factual, and I have done a great deal of research to bring the truth to light. This is only the tip of the iceberg, for the sake of brevity. Please research these matters for yourself, and draw your own conclusions. Thank You for considering these issues, and let’s abolish brutality and racism, without dismantling the very building blocks that make civilizations and families strong.
