UPDATE: On March 25, 2025, members of the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) and A-Squad, with assistance from the Department of Adult Corrections, successfully took Jamarion Gray into custody.

Snow Hill – The Greene County Board of Education has voted to appoint Dr. Rodney McNeill as the next superintendent of Greene County Schools, effective July 1, 2025. This decision follows the announcement of current superintendent Dr. Creech’s retirement, shared with the board on February 24, 2025. Dr. Creech has served Greene County Schools in various leadership roles since 2014 and has led the district as superintendent since 2022.
A worship service of thanksgiving to God for Bob’s incredible life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday March 29th, at Calvary Memorial UMC, with burial at the Snow Hill Cemetery following. Friends and family are invited to gather in the Fellowship Hall from 12:30-1:45 to share memories, swap stories, and take a picture or two.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office has, according to its own reports in the last week, arrested two people and put them in jail here just as soon as they were released from their prison sentences elsewhere in the state. Both have drug charges.

Bernice Dail Johnson, 91, was graciously received into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2025. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ham officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to service. Committal will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston.
