Governor Josh Stein announced that the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 13 grant requests to local governments totaling $9,627,500. The grants include commitments creating a total of 785 jobs, 414 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $165.9 million in public and private investment.
Congratulations to North Lenoir sophomore Lexy Rouse for winning the 2025 Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant. Established in 1980, the Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant has been a cherished tradition in Kinston, providing young women with opportunities to showcase their talents and earn scholarships for their educational pursuits. The pageant emphasizes personal development, community involvement, and academic achievement.

LA GRANGE – Fire crews responded to a fire at E.B. Frink Middle School Friday night. Officials have not released details on the extent of any damage or the cause of the fire.
On February 21, 2025, at 02:25 AM., Kinston Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering at the 2 o'clock store located at 700 Dr MLK JR Boulevard. Surveillance footage captured video footage of the suspect. We are currently attempting to identify the subject in the photos.

A Lenoir County man is behind bars following a traffic stop that led to multiple charges, including possession of drugs.
