Final judgment ordered in Lenoir County nuisance case
Lenoir County Superior Court Judge Imelda J. Pate signed a consent judgment resulting from a Chapter 19 Nuisance Abatement action regarding the property at 445 and 453 Pear Street in Kinston, in the Jackson Heights community. The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, working with the property owners and the community, have reached a successful resolution to ensure actions at these properties do not negatively impact the community.

The market is closed on Tuesdays and will reopen during strawberry season. Current hours are Saturdays, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, until December 28, at 100 North Herritage Street. Pork skins and funnel cakes are available on Tuesday and Thursday, and most vendors accept major credit cards.

The warrant followed an investigation revealing that Benjamin Tyson, 41, of Kinston, was operating a drug distribution operation.

The Counter offers southern-inspired dishes in downtown Kinston
A new restaurant from chef and author Vivian Howard has opened in downtown Kinston. The Counter at Chef & the Farmer, located at 120 W. Gordon St., began operations Thursday through Sunday, noon to 8 p.m., offering a menu built around local and seasonal ingredients. It occupies the space formerly held by Chef & the Farmer’s wine and gift shop.
