Suspect flees on bicycle after shoplifting wine, faces multiple charges
KPD’S A-Squad responded to Food Lion in reference to a shoplifting/larceny. While responding to the call, officers observed a suspect on W Washington Ave matching the description that was given by a witness. Officers recognized the subject to be Michael Jenkins (35 of Kinston) from previous encounters.

Kinston man dies in six-vehicle crash on Vernon Avenue
On Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:39 pm, officers from the Kinston Police Department, as well as additional emergency personnel from the Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue and Lenoir County Emergency Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on the 100 blk of E. Vernon Avenue involving 6 vehicles.
Jumping Run Church in La Grange shows community they care
On Saturday, November 30, Jumping Run Church of La Grange demonstrated the power of love in action at the Circle K in Kinston, NC. The church blessed 200 vehicles with $15 worth of gas each, spreading kindness and support to the community.

Challenges and risks awaited early eighteenth century settlers who arrived in the unsettled Bucklesberry Pocosin of then old Craven County. According to historian and author Dr. Lindley S. A man accused of breaking into vehicles and outbuildings on Bonnie Walters Road and then taking the change to an area Coinstar exchange machine was arrested Thursday morning.

An 18-year-old was arrested Sunday on Mays Store Road in La Grange for larceny of a firearm.

Mr. Cecil C. Conner, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, November 30, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Funeral Services will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel of Pinelawn Memorial Park 11 AM Tuesday, December 3rd. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service.

At a recent Board of Commissioners meeting, Greene County honored Commissioner James T. Shackleford, Jr. for 24 years of dedicated service. Commissioner Shackleford, who has served on the Board since 2000, was presented with a commemorative plaque and a heartfelt resolution recognizing his many contributions to the county.
