UNC Health Lenoir employees donate 6,000 pounds of food at annual Feastival of Foods
Employees at UNC Health Lenoir came together to collect 6,000 pounds of food during the hospital’s annual “Feastival of Foods” event held on Nov. 22. The food drive, which began in October, aimed to support families in need and local organizations fighting food insecurity in Lenoir County.
Kinston residents receive information about water service line materials
Some residents of Kinston recently received letters accompanying their utilities bills, notifying them of potential lead in their service pipes. This outreach follows new regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the revised Lead and Copper Rule, which went into effect in October.

Kinston Fire & Rescue receives $25,000 grant for water rescue efforts
Kinston Fire & Rescue has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to enhance its disaster preparedness capabilities. The funding will be used to purchase equipment for the department’s water rescue team, improving its readiness and response during tropical weather and other emergencies.
North Carolina Farmers Appreciation Day
During the Inaugural North Carolina Farmers Appreciation Day, the Farmer of the Year and Young Farmer of the Year were recognized, and all the state’s farmers were honored at a celebration dinner at the N.C.
