Leonard Basden, 87, of Dover, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC with his wife by his bedside.
Viola Earldean "Dean" Price Carraway, known to family and friends as Dean, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11am at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 12:06 AM, Kinston Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject that struck a pole with a vehicle at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Harvey St. Officers were also advised that the subject driving the vehicle appeared to have been shot.
On the morning of November 4, 2024, at approximately 6:00 AM, officers from C-Squad responded to a reported breaking and entering on the 1500 block of Charlotte Avenue. The caller, a juvenile, informed authorities that 32-year-old Omar Wilkes had unlawfully entered their home before fleeing the scene.

Unofficial 2024 North Carolina Election General assembly Results. Full, certified results are expected after all counties report their complete counts and any provisional or absentee ballots are verified and included.
Preliminary results from the North Carolina 2024 General Election show a strong voter turnout, with 67.01% of registered voters casting ballots. As of 11:42 p.m. on election night, 92.36% of precincts (2,455 out of 2,658) have reported results, reflecting over 5.2 million votes.
On October 31, 2024, officers from C-Squad responded to a reported breaking and entering at a residence in the 300 block of East Bright Street. Upon arrival, officers observed two men, Bryan Bouie (35, of Kinston) and Allen Campbell (39, of Kinston), arguing on the front porch.
