William Lee “Bill” Jenkins, 79, of Deep Run, NC passed away at Kitty Askins, Goldsboro, NC on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Jim Williams presiding. Visitation to follow the funeral service. A burial will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
On July 2, 2024, KPD and Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 629 E Washington Avenue., Kinston. Evidence found at the scene indicated that the fire was deliberately set.
Stephen Cashwell Hall, Jr., 61, of Kinston, NC was welcomed to his eternal home on Friday, August 16th, 2024. A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 2:00pm at Faith Fellowship Church in Kinston, NC.
Arendell Parrott Academy (APA) marked its 60th year as students returned to school on Monday, with enrollment numbers reaching 651 students from 10 counties. The milestone was celebrated with excitement by staff, students, and parents alike, as they reflected on the Academy’s history and looked forward to the year ahead.

August 17, 2024, KPD's A-Squad responded to a report of felony Larceny at 1308 W Vernon Avenue. It was reported that the subject in the photo entered the business and stole items before fleeing the scene.
Early this morning, a Kinston man and a Dover woman were arrested on three felonies each related to larceny of a work van.

Emmitt Robinson “Bobby” Davis, Jr., 84, was welcomed to life eternal on August 14, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. A service to celebrate and honor Bobby’s life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Munn Gymnasium on the Emmitt R. “Bobby” Davis Sports Complex at South Lenoir High School. The family will receive friends following the service. A service of committal will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
