Howard Lee “John" Jarman, 87, of Deep Run, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 surrounded by family. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Reverend Hank Jarman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
TRENTON — Jones County officials and community members gathered on Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a new EMS station, the first of two planned stations aimed at improving emergency response times in the county. The event marked a significant step in enhancing emergency services for residents.

A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday night by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies after returning to the scene of where he broke into the day before.
KPD Officers are currently attempting to identify the subject in the photo. This incident is related to the offender taking a woman's purse.
Officers on KPD's D-Squad were searching the area of the 1300 block of W Washington Avenue for a report of shots fired.
The Kinston Driver License Office located at 2214 West Vernon Avenue posted the following on their NC DMV Website: This office will suspend road skills testing each day from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 due to road construction in the area of the office location. Both walk-in and appointments for the road skills testing are available during the 7:00 am - 11:00 am and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

Lenoir Community College is a comprehensive institution that places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. The Teacher Preparation and Occupational Education Program Chair/Instructor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Associate in Arts-Teacher Preparation and Occupational Education courses by coordinating instructors for courses, assisting with course scheduling, conducting instructor evaluations, and other duties as required.
The Health and Physical Education Instructor is responsible for providing quality health and physical education instruction for our Early College and traditional curriculum students. Classes include but are not limited to HEA 110 – Personal Health and Wellness and PED 110 – Fit and Well for Life.
