The 7th annual "Stride to Fight Diabetes Walk-A-Thon," was an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for those affected by diabetes. Organized by a local non-profit committee "Lions Making Strides 2 Fight Diabetes," the event was a collaborative effort involving several key community partners, including the Kinston Host Lions Club, Kinston Community Center, Lions Industries for the Blind, Inc., UNC-Lenoir, and Southwood Memorial Christian Church.
Under general supervision, keeps public housing properties clear of trash and debris. Assists with painting duties, changing HVAC filters, moving furniture from vacant units and cleaning vacancies. Must be able to work outside in all seasons. Prefers a good work history. Beginning Salary: $13.00 per hour depending on experience.

Must be able to work independently. This position could be required to work emergency/on call if needed. Beginning Salary: $16.55 per hour depending on experience.

The volunteer fire departments of Deep Run, Pink Hill, Southwood and Sandy Bottom are on the scene of a working grain bin fire on Live Oak Hog Co Road in Deep Run. Multiple firefighters are actively working to extinguish the fire, which started inside one of the grain towers.
