Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team conducted a traffic stop involving Qwashaun Herring. During the traffic stop, detectives attempted to serve Herring with an Order For Arrest. Peggy Hart Rouse, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston, at 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service and other times at her home. Hettie “Grace” Davis Hill, 93, of Kinston, passed away peacefully Friday, December 1, 2023, at home. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 1pm at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

During todays Lenoir County Commissioner’s Meeting, the Lenoir County Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Commissioner Chad Rouse. Immediately following the meeting, the clerk to the board published the notice for the special meeting.
