The Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue was dispatched to 1006 Clifton Terrace at 8:45 AM, on September 8th, in reference to a Structure Fire. Kinston Police Officers and Kinston Fire crews arrived quickly to the scene. Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue, had a rapid knock down and control of the fire.

A 42-year-old Kinston man has been arrested on sex offense charges against a 13-year-old girl. On Sept. 3, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office received information from a concerned parent about alleged inappropriate behavior between an adult male and a juvenile female. The LCSO investigation led the agency to press charges against Virgil Todd Chase for attempted statutory sex and indecent liberties with a minor.
Mavis Elaine Avery Taylor, 88, of Kinston, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice, Goldsboro, NC. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 at Westview Cemetery.
