Officers from C-Squad initiated a traffic stop and located a concealed firearm. After an investigation, officers charged Trevon Berry (27 of Cary NC) with possession of a firearm by felon and carrying a concealed gun. Nasier Taylor (22 of Warrenton NC) was also charged with carrying a concealed gun. Both were placed in the LC Jail under secured bonds.

**UPDATE** On July 12, 2023, KPD Violet Crime Action Team received information that Retho Gardner was hiding out at a residence on the 900 block of Candlewood Dr. Gardner had 1st Degree Murder warrants for the homicide of Franklin Bowden. After an investigation, a search warrant was obtained by detectives. KPD SWAT, Patrol, and ALE assisted with the execution of the search warrant. Gardner surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
The Neuse Regional Libraries’ Digital Resource Rover (DRR) hit the road this summer with a new schedule specifically for the summer months. Thanks to partnerships with the Kinston Housing Authority, Greene Lamp Head Start, local child care centers, and county agencies in Lenoir, Jones, and Greene Counties, the DRR has the opportunity to visit even more of our youngest patrons while continuing to offer multigenerational programming and library services throughout our communities.
