The Kinston Police Department obtained warrants for Brennan Dijuon Hill (23) of Kinston in regard to Sunday’s shooting of a Lenoir County Paramedic. On Monday, May 29, 2023, officers with the KPD apprehended Hill. Hill was taken to the Magistrate where he was placed under a secured bond and released to the custody of the Lenoir County Jail.
The Friends of the CSS Neuse Museum will be hosting a maritime history symposium titled “North Carolina Naval History in the Age of Sail and Steam” on June 23 and June 24 at the CSS Neuse Museum, located at 100 N. Queen St. The subjects covered will include Naval History from pre-American Revolution, during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 through naval advancements during the Civil War.

The Lenoir County Public School Nutrition Department is soliciting competitive sealed proposals from qualified service providers to furnish pizza products, training, and equipment for our three high schools. The term of the contract will be from July 1, 2023 and terminate July 1, 2024, with both an extension option and a Renewal Option. Any and all bids or proposals may be rejected at the discretion of the Lenoir County Public Schools Nutrition Department. Bid opening will be June 6, 2023, at 3:00PM. Sealed bids will not be accepted after 2PM.

The Kinston Police Department has obtained warrants for Mario Devon King (34) in connection with the shooting and murder of Franklin Antonio Bowden II. Mr. King is wanted for First Degree Murder and should be considered armed and dangerous.
James Mayberry Marshall died on May 25, 2023, in Kinston. There will be a memorial service for Jim at 11:00 a.m., May 30, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Kinston. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
Rita Fallon Spence, 75, of Kinston, NC passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Springbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Clayton, NC. A Celebration of Life will be held in Emerald Isle with the date to be determined at a later time.
