A new dog grooming business has opened at 306 W. Blount Street. DeOGee Spaw, owned by Bianca Andrade and Stephen Hill, is one of the newest businesses in downtown Kinston. Located in the art district, they offer full-service baths, haircuts, nail trimming, and customized packages.

An old building will get a new lease on life with the Paramount Project. A collective effort is underway to restore the Paramount Theater to its former glory. The project is currently raising the funds needed to renovate the building.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13th at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, officiated by Rev. Dennis Peay of Westminster United Methodist Church of Kinston.
Lenoir Community College will hold its 61st commencement at 7 p.m. May 11 in the Student Center with Dr. Deborah Grimes as the guest speaker. Admission to the ceremony is by ticket only as seating is limited. More than 350 graduates are eligible to receive degrees.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics is the largest year-round public awareness and grass-roots fundraising campaign for Special Olympics. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, National, Regional and World Games.
2022 was an incredible year in the 8th Judicial District Family Accountability and Recovery Court (FARC)! Eight participants successfully completed the program. In FARC, participants have lost or are at risk of losing their children due to substance use which impacts ability to parent.

Like the gentleman he’s known to be, Donald DeVeau quietly and peacefully departed from his hard-working body to enter the joys of heavenly living. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in Mosley Hall.

Billy Ray Brown, 80, of Deep Run, entered the arms of Jesus and his wife Pat, on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston, followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 1200. Graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will also receive visitors at the home of Mr. Brown on Wednesday, May 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
