Last night, NLFR responded to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a hoverboard on fire. The hoverboard was quicky removed from the home and extinguished. Thankfully, there were no injuries or serious damage reported.

On Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, at approximately 11:50 am officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to the 600 block of Larkspur Road in reference to a call of an individual shot in the area.
Local organizations from across Kinston, including Hope Restorations, Inc., the City of Kinston, the Kinston Police Department, Kinston Parks and Recreation, and the Red Cross, will join Wells Fargo for Welcome Home, a community enrichment project focused on East Kinston.
Ian has strengthened into a Major Hurricane this morning, and has made landfall over western Cuba. Hurricane Ian is expected to continue north into the Gulf of Mexico today, and then make landfall on the Florida peninsula early Thursday morning.

On September 24, 2022, The Lenoir County SPCA collaborated with PetSense in Kinston to host an Adoptathon Event. The event is used to bring community together for a common goal to support the dogs and cats looking for furr-ever homes. PetSense is a local chain pet supply store that is at 4130 W Vernon Ave in Kinston, which is sponsored by Tractor Supply.
Charlotte Baker was a lifetime Duplin County resident and Pink Hill business owner who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2018 and succumbed to the disease in 2021 after a valiant battle.

This year, 2022, marks the 250th anniversary of the construction of Harmony Hall – and it also marks the 51st anniversary of the founding of the Lenoir County Historical Association. On November 15, 2018, the most courageous kid I have ever known, at the age of 15, passed on to be with the Lord. He was handsome, intelligent, great sense of humor, and a quick wit. He was a gifted musician. His faith was stronger than that of some of the greatest preachers I’ve known. He was the best of us. His name was Colby Tucker.
