Adoptathon Event Hosted by PetSense and Lenoir County SPCA

On September 24, 2022, The Lenoir County SPCA collaborated with PetSense in Kinston to host an Adoptathon Event. The event is used to bring community together for a common goal to support the dogs and cats looking for furr-ever homes. PetSense is a local chain pet supply store that is at 4130 W Vernon Ave in Kinston, which is sponsored by Tractor Supply.

Mike Parker: September 30 marks dual anniversary in our history

On Friday, September 30, the Lenoir County Historical Association will hold a grand birthday celebration to serve a dual purpose. This year, 2022, marks the 250th anniversary of the construction of Harmony Hall – and it also marks the 51st anniversary of the founding of the Lenoir County Historical Association. The construction of Harmony Hall began in 1772, and the association held its organizational meeting in 1971.

NWS: Tropical Depression 9 ,may impact Eastern NC next week

Newly-formed Tropical Depression 9 is moving slowly west through the central Caribbean Sea. TD 9 is forecast to turn north through the western Caribbean Sea early next week and strengthen into a hurricane as it moves into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. Impacts to eastern North Carolina from TD 9 are possible late next week, but will be highly dependent on the eventual track.

Obituary: Earl Franklin Greene

Earl Franklin Greene Deep Run Earl Franklin Greene of Deep Run died peacefully on September 21, 2022, at the age of 100 surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held at Pink Hill Funeral Home on September 24, 12:30 pm, followed by funeral service at 1:30 pm officiated by Pastor Dave Fishman.
