Danny William Moye, 70, passed away Thursday afternoon at UNC Lenoir surrounded by the love of his family. A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 6 pm in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev Dr Randy Spaugh officiating. Visitation will follow the service. A private graveside will be held with the family at a later date.
Rachel C. Turner has announced her candidacy for election for Lenoir County Clerk of Court. Turner was born and raised in Kinston and began working at the Lenoir County Clerk of Court's office in 2011 as a Deputy Clerk in the criminal division. In the 2022 Election, Turner will be running her campaign as an Independent Candidate and will need to gather approximately 1500 signatures to be placed on the November 8th ballot.
The 2022 Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant sponsored by Hugo Fire and Rescue will be held March 5th, 2022 at Kinston Lenoir County Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6 and Program will begin at 7. Tickets may be purchased from any contestant.

On March 11, the CSS Neuse Civil War Interpretive Center will unveil the final phase of permanent exhibits. Entitled "The Civil War in Eastern North Carolina," these Phase III exhibits will showcase a variety of aspects of the Civil War, including causes, military engagements and personalities, and the involvement of women and African Americans during the conflict.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 6:00 PM in the chapel at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation to follow. Interment will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Grifton, NC. The family is requiring all in attendance to wear a mask.
Seven Springs - Aaron Mason King, 59, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. Born in Wayne County on September 2, 1962, he was the son of the late Arthur Henry and Norma Jean Davis King. The family will receive friends from 2:30 โ 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022 in the parlor of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. A service to celebrate Aaronโs life will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. James H. Harry and Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will be held in a private setting for the family at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
Robert Allen Groff (Bobby), 69, of Pink Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior on 2/24/22, at home surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park on 3/1/22 at 11am.

House Majority Leader John Bell (R-Wayne) officially filed for re-election to continue representing House District 10, which will now only include a larger portion of Wayne County following redistricting. The district previously comprised of Greene County and portions of Johnston and Wayne counties.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal.
