John Hood: Manufacturing Continues to Thrive

With the recent announcements of a new Toyota battery plant in Randolph County, a new Fujifilm Diosynth drug plant in Wake County, a large MasterBrand cabinet facility in Kinston, and a big White River Marine operation in New Bern for making saltwater boats, among other projects, North Carolina’s manufacturing sector appears to be thriving.

University of Maryland Global Campus Dean's List

The following local students were named to the Dean's List for the fall term at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Sylvia White gets parole

In eleven month’s time, Sylvia Ipock White will be released from prison after being granted parole. White is serving two life sentences in the death of her 4-year-old stepson and hiring a hitman to kill her husband.
