The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have authorized and recommended "booster" vaccine shots for high-risk groups who received the Pfizer vaccine. Boosters strengthen and extend protections against severe illness from COVID-19. There is ample supply of boosters across the state.

Continuing a nine-year commitment
Honoring a nine year contractual agreement with NC Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway Program, sixty Greene Early College students recently combed Middle School Road bagging trash. Under the leadership of English teacher, Natasha Martin, applied in September 2012 to DOT for the 1.2 mile road to be adopted by the school.

Fire Chief of the La Grange Fire Department Ryan Riley opened Riley's Southern Goods & Gardens and AvaRae’s Ice Cream Shoppe at 405 East Washington Street in La Grange on September 29, 2021. The ice cream shop is named after his two daughters Ava Grace and Reagan.
Kinston Police ask for help in identifying suspect in case of counterfeit checks
The individual in this photo was able to get away with a significant amount of money by using counterfeit checks. The incident was reported on 09-14-21 and actually occurred some months prior. Kinston Police: Federal sentencing handed down for defendants in recent criminal cases
The Kinston Police Department, along with partnering local municipal law enforcement agencies, North Carolina SBI, ATF, USDOJ, our local District Attorney Office and the United States Attorney’s Office continue to work together to combat violent crime in Kinston. Over the past month, several defendants from cases that took place within our jurisdiction have been sentenced through the Federal system. One of our main goals at the Kinston Police Department is to build partnerships to reduce crime in our community.
Charles Henry Venters, 69, began eternal rest from his labors on Monday, September 27, 2021. A service to remember and celebrate Charles’s life will be held by the graveside on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at his farm on Budd Fields Road, Seven Springs.

Greene County Board of Education maintains mask mandate
The Greene County School Board met on September 28, 2021, at the Greene County Tech Center. The public comment section outlined the lack of sports at Greene Early College and parents' concerns with the current mask mandate. Before public comments started the Chairman, Patricia Adams asked if everyone could keep their comments/statements to three minutes.
