The Down East Wood Ducks announced Tuesday, their plans to host the second annual Kinston Cornhole Classic at Grainger Stadium, presented by Poole Realty on Saturday, November 6th. The event will use the American Cornhole League Rounders Format which is a Progressive Round Robin tournament where all teams will be placed into a pool and six or more rounds will be played by each team.

On Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at approximately 3:50 pm, Kinston Police Officers responded to shots fired near the 1100 block of Pollock St. Kinston, N.C. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, Rashad O’Neil, 25, of Kinston. The preliminary investigation revealed that two individuals operating a white SUV drove past Mr. O’Neil and began firing shots at him from the vehicle. After the shooting the assailants fled the area.
Students at Greene Central High School and Greene County Middle School participated in the Devious Licks TikTok challenge which resulted in the discipline of six students. The ‘Devious Lick’ challenge encouraged school-aged children to steal or destroy school property.

Established in 2000, the Hall of Honor is designed to recognize individuals whose contribution to hospital care in Lenoir County makes them remarkable in some way. Including this year’s class, 118 outstanding citizens have been inducted into the UNC Lenoir Hall of Honor, and 2021 marks the 115th year of hospital care for our community. Six deserving individuals were inducted in the morning ceremony.

Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Imelda J. Pate will appoint Holly J. Little as the new Greene County Clerk of Superior Court on Friday, October 1, 2021.
