Thanks to some clutch hitting, the Down East Wood Ducks snuck away with a 9-7 win over the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, Tuesday night. The Wood Ducks blew a five-run lead in the bottom of the fifth and committed four defensive errors but thanks to two solo home runs in the top of the seventh powered them to their 31st win of the season.
On Wednesday, it was announced that there will be playoffs for the 2021 Minor League Baseball season. Double-A, High-A, and Low-A will all have the same playoff format for the 2021 postseason.
Thanks to eight runs in two innings, the Down East Wood Ducks fell to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 9-4 Thursday night. With a homerun and two RBIs, Alejandro Osuna was named the Suddenlink Player of the Game.

The Down East Wood Ducks announced Tuesday, their plans to host the Second Annual ENC High School Senior Sendoff, Presented by Lenoir Community College on Saturday, July 2nd. The event is a celebration of all of the recent 2021 graduates, but will be highlighted with a doubleheader of baseball games featuring recent 2021 graduates from over 30 high schools in eastern North Carolina. Gates will open at 4 with game one starting at 4:30 and game two starting at 7:30 with a fireworks show after the completion of the doubleheader.
The Down East Wood Ducks announced Wednesday, that they will host a Youth Softball Camp, presented by Lenoir Community College. The camp will take place Tuesday, June 29th – Thursday, July 1st.
The Down East Wood Ducks split their doubleheader with the Carolina Mudcats, Thursday night at Grainger Stadium. The Woodies fell in game one, 2-1 but salvaged game two with a walkoff win, 4-3.

Tuesday, June 8th the Kinston High School Men’s and Women’s track teams won the 2021 Conference Title. Competing against local teams like North Lenoir, Ayden-Grifton, and West Craven, Kinston High came out on top with the women at 146 and the men reaching 137.
After two weeks away from Grainger Stadium, the Down East Wood Ducks return home for their first 12-game homestand of the 2021 season!
Thanks to a three-run sixth inning, the Down East Wood Ducks defeated the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 6-3, Wednesday night. After collecting only four hits last night, the bats woke up as Down East totaled 14 hits with six hitters notching a multi-hit game.
After scoring 15 runs on Sunday, the Down East Wood Ducks took a complete 180° turn as they were shutout by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 3-0, Tuesday night. The Wood Ducks were shut out for the third time this season and have lost three of-their-last five games.
Although they stole nine bases, the Down East Wood Ducks fell to the Carolina Mudcats, 5-4 Saturday night. The Wood Ducks pushed four runs across the plate but managed only three hits and were one-for-nine with runners in scoring position.
The Down East Wood Ducks smashed four homeruns en route to their largest offensive output of 2021 with a 15-7 win against the Carolina Mudcats, Sunday afternoon. This win puts the Wood Ducks in a tie for first in the Central division with the Mudcats.
