A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Phillips Family Cemetery in Trenton.
Mrs. Lillian Marie Chapman Jones, 80, transitioned Friday, February 3, 2023. Funeral will take place 1PM Saturday, February 11, 2023 in Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chapman Family Cemetery in Grifton, NC. Viewing will be Friday, February 10, 2023 from 3pm to 6pm at the funeral home.
Regina Carol Whaley Stallings, 64, of Seven Springs, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kinston. The family will receive friends at the home following the service, 1261 Whaley Family Road, Seven Springs, North Carolina 28578.
Gilbert Rhodes Willard, 74, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 in Kinston, North Carolina after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Gordon Street Christian Church, 118 East Gordon Street, Kinston, North Carolina 28501. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Pastor Floyd will be held at Tanglewood Church in Kinston, North Carolina on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 6:00 PM.

A Service of Death and Resurrection to celebrate Fred’s life will be held 2 PM Sunday, February 5th, at Westminster United Methodist Church with Reverend Dennis Peay officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

Donnie Ray Potter, age 74, of Kinston passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, January 21, 2023, after a courageous battle following surgery and prolonged illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6pm on Thursday, January 26, at Tanglewood Church of God with Pastor Allen Stocks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Garner Funeral Home and other times at her home. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park conducted by her nephew Rev. Roy White.

Trace came into this world a four-pound fourteen ounce baby boy on December 11, 2007, and melted his Mommy and Daddy’s hearts. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the world became dimmer when the brightness of Trace’s life ended at the tender age of 15.
Gloria Jean Pierce Beaman Phillips peacefully and quietly departed this life on December 28, 2022. A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation in the hour before the service.
Clinton “Clint” Heath Smith, 48, of Deep Run, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Deep Run Original Free Will Baptist Church at 11am with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the home of Donna Smith in Deep Run.
Kimberly Michele Oliver, of Kinston, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 14, 2023 after a life-long neurological disease that took her body, but allowed her to keep a warm and loving heart. A memorial service will be held on at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston. Michael McDaniel of Alexandria, Virginia will perform the services. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Griffin Family Cemetery.
William “George” Mathis passed away on Jan 10, 2023 at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born May 20, 1943 to Jackson Crowell Mathis and Helen Hartis Mathis. He grew up in Kinston and graduated from Grainger High School and attended East Carolina University. A memorial service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Tuesday, Jan 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church of Raleigh. There will be a visitation in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

Our beloved, William “Bill” Percy Prentice, age 80, of Seven Springs, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly, but quietly, in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Visitation will be held at Rouse Funeral Home in La Grange, North Carolina, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4 to 6PM. The interment of ashes will be placed next to his beloved wife, DeDe at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York.
