Obituary: Elizabeth Ann Davis (Libby) Houston

Elizabeth Ann Davis (Libby) Houston, 70, passed away Thursday, January 19th, following an extended illness.

A graduate of South Lenoir High School, Mount Olive College and Campbell University, Libby received a degree in Elementary Education. Truly passionate about her calling, she was a dedicated educator for over 30 years. Comfort Elementary School and the Comfort, NC community always held a very special place in her heart. She cherished each of her students and co-workers as family.

Libby was a member of Deep Run OFWB Church. She dearly loved her church family and enjoyed worshipping with them and serving alongside them in various roles, especially the church library.

Libby's greatest adventure began when she became a grandmother. Her grandson Reece was the apple of her eye. Her best days were spent with him playing ball, sharing their favorite snacks or anything at his request- they were just happy together.

Libby was blessed to have her very loving and special sister-friends as well as lifelong friendships with her Davis and Hill cousins.

Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fannie Davis, and sister, Shirley Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Beth Houston and significant other, Kevin James, and grandson, Reece Thompson.

A special thank you to the staff of Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Vidant Hematology-Oncology, UNC Lenoir Cancer Center and Fresenius Kidney Care for their compassionate care and support.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Deep Run Original Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Run Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2390 John Green Smith Road, Deep Run, NC 28525.
