North Carolina has a continuing CHILD FIND procedure in place to locate all children with disabilities residing in the State, including children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of their disability, and who are in need of special education and related services. A local Project CHILD FIND effort is underway in the Jones County area to identify children and youth ages 3 to 21 who have disabilities and need special education and other services.
A meeting will be held on June 29, 2020 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 p.m. at Jones County Board of Education, 320 West Jones Street Trenton, NC 28585. The purpose of this meeting is to consult with private schools and parents of parentally-placed private school students as well as home-schooled students.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA-Part B, Public Law 108.446) Project is presently being amended. The Project describes the special education programs that Jones County proposes for Federal funding for the 2020-21 school year.
