On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at around 8:46 p.m., Leonardo Orgas, 44, of Snow Hill, NC, was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of US Hwy 70 when he was stopped by KPD’s A-Squad. After an investigation, Orgas was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired.
On September 13, 2024, KPD officers conducted a traffic stop with Rico Davis (30 of Lenoir County). Officers discovered Davis was wanted for Federal Probation Violations. Officers took Davis in custody without incident. Davis was placed in the LC Jail without bond.
KPD officers on D-Squad responded to a residence on the 900 block of Savannah Lane at the request of The Department of Adult Corrections. KPD was requested to stand by while the Probation Officer conducted a residential check on Michael Stevens (22 years old).
It should be noted that whether or not this system becomes tropical, the impacts for our area including heavy rain and flooding, coastal flooding and a few tornadoes have not changed drastically.
