The Kinston Police Department will hold a free camp this summer for youth between 11 and 17 who are Kinston or Lenoir County residents. Camp Inspire will be held June 26th through June 28th from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

KPD Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit that started in the city of Kinston and went to Greene County. It involved members of the Kinston Police Department, Lenoir County Sheriffs Office, Greene County Sheriffs Office, Snow Hill Police Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

In December of 2022, KPD's Violent Crime Action Team began a drug investigation related to the distribution of crack cocaine by Rodney Meadows (37 of Kinston).
