As is done after every election, the board “reorganizes” itself by electing Chairman and Vice Chairman. This year was the first time in a long time that Pat Adams would not be chosen to serve as the board chair as she lost her seat in the general election.

Snow HIll - At their regular board meeting on Monday, December 19, 2022 the Greene County Board of Education recognized their monthly Student Spotlight awardees. This month they were all chosen from West Greene Elementary School. This month’s honorees were all recognized for exceptional citizenship, academics, and all around excellence inside and outside of the classroom.
KPD: Man charged with Indecent Liberties with a Minor
On Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, members of the Kinston Police Department were called to the report of an assault that was taking place near the 800 block of East St. Upon arrival officers met with the suspects who advised that the assault occurred due to the dating relationship of the assault victim, Raheem McClean (26) of Kinston, and a 14 year old relative of the assault suspects.

The crews of Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue would like to make this family’s Christmas a very special one in their great time of Grief and Suffering when they lost their dad. We raised a fair amount of money to buy some presents and also to provide a Walmart Gift-card to assist the family during the holiday season. The state’s seasonally adjusted November 2022 unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, increasing 0.1 of a percentage point from October’s revised rate. The national rate remained unchanged at 3.7 percent.

Every year, students from other countries come to America as part of a Student Exchange Program. This year, the Kennedy family is one of the host families to have an exchange student. The Kennedy family lives in Lenoir County and they are hosting Martje Tammen from Lower Saxony, Germany. As part of the program, Martje attends South Lenoir High School as a junior.
