Greene Early College Students Spotlighted by the Board of Education

Each month, the Greene County Board of Education recognizes students from the different county schools with Student Spotlight. During the October board meeting, five Greene Early College students, nominated by GEC staff, were recognized for leadership, citizenship, academic achievements, and innovative initiatives. Students’ unique attributes were shared with the board. Also, each student was presented with a certificate by Superintendent Dr. Frank Creech.

Veterans' Roundtable: Veterans Day

November 11 became a federal holiday in the United States in 1938 as Armistice Day. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice was declared between the Allied nations & Germany in World War 1. The next year, 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration to honor the World War 1 soldiers in the United States.

Snow Hill Primary "Terrific Kid" awards

Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. On Fridays, these students are presented with an award and are congratulated for their hard work. Below are Snow Hill Primary's last Terrific Kids!

Mixed Beverage Referendum on Town of Pink Hill Election Day ballot

The citizens of Pink Hill will be voting on a Mixed Beverage Referendum to decide whether or not to permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs, community theatres, and convention centers and the ‘on-premises’ and ‘off-premises’ sale of malt beverages and unfortified wine in qualified establishments. This referendum can only be voted on by registered voters of Pink Hill on Election Day, November 8, 2022.

Voters that use early voting, or by-mail ballot, will have the opportunity to go to their precinct on Election Day, November 8th, to receive the ballot that contains the Mixed Beverage vote.
