NC Cooperative Extension will be hosting the second Annual Casserole Cook-Off. There will be two categories: meat and meatless casseroles. You must include which category you are entering with your name and number and a full description of the recipe. There are monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and the overall winner. Kinston Police searching for suspect charged with attempted murder
The suspect has been identified as Terris Terrell Turnage, 43, of Kinston N.C. Investigators were able to obtain warrants on Turnage for Attempted Murder and he remains at large. Turnage should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Kinston Police Department.

Governor Cooper Issues State of Emergency in Advance of Severe Weather
In advance of Hurricane Ian’s remnants moving through the state, Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency today to activate the state’s emergency operations plan, waive transportation rules to help the transport of fuel and critical supplies, help first responders and the agriculture industry and protect consumers from price gouging.

NWS Morehead City Hurricane Ian Update
Ian is now a strong Category 4 hurricane located about 75 miles WSW of Naples, FL. No major changes were made to the forecast track overnight - Ian is still expected to make landfall today along the west coast of Florida, around the Port Charlotte area, and slowly track NE across central FL tonight and Thursday.

Hoverboard fire safety tips from North Lenoir Fire and Rescue
Last night, NLFR responded to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a hoverboard on fire. The hoverboard was quicky removed from the home and extinguished. Thankfully, there were no injuries or serious damage reported.
