Kinston’s City Council approved a special event permit request for May 14 and May 15 from the Shriners that includes a parade. A press conference was held tonight with city officials including Mayor Don Hardy, City Manager Tony Sears, Kinston Police Department's Chief Dilday, and Mayor Pro Tem Felicia Solomon in response to an officer related incident captured and shared on social media.

The City of Kinston received a request from Halcon Companies to utilize a Conditional Use Permit for multi-family apartment units on an 8.61 acre tract on a lot just off North Queen Street, adjacent to Kinston High School. Leadership at Kinston High School, where the properties would be next to, weren’t receptive to the apartment complex moving so close.
