Ms. Isha Omer, Arendell Parrott Academy student, has received The Duke University Trinity Program Scholarship. The Trinity Scholarship recognizes students with outstanding academic achievement from various areas of North and South Carolina
The Woodington Raiders have raised a whopping $3,881 for the American Heart Association this year. This total was made possible by the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who participated in the fundraising efforts.
I worked with Professor John Hoppenthaler for several years after he joined the faculty of East Carolina’s Department of English. He brought energy and enthusiasm to the classes he taught. His role at ECU is Professor of English and Creative Writing, and he serves as the co-director of the ECU Contemporary Writers Series.

Each of the schools in Greene County recently named their Teacher of the Year. Teachers nominate one of their peers for teacher of the year. Once nominations are collected, the teachers vote for those nominees who will represent their school as Teacher of the Year.

Aliza Matthews of Kinston, North Carolina, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Matthews was initiated at James Madison University.

On Friday, March 31, Greene Central High School inducted 53 new members into their chapter of the National Technical Honor Society. The new members had to have the following requirements in order to be inducted: 3.0 GPA, having taken at least 2 CTE courses, and most important teacher recommendation.

Musician Tony Kinsey gave a motivational speech at Neuse Regional Public Libraries on April 1, 2023. Kinsey, who has been performing for over two decades, has a passion for positive music that inspires and motivates people. He believes that music can make a positive impact on people's lives and inspire them to make positive changes.
