Bryan Williamson, LCC Spanish instructor for Greene Early College, recently added an extra dimension for his Spanish class. Being a wonderful fall day, Mr. Williamson took his Spanish class outside and taught them Cumbia.

Lenoir County Public Schools’ teachers won more than half of the 99 Bright Ideas grants awarded by Tri-County EMC on Monday night – a haul worth $45,762 – and five LCPS schools picked up an additional $500 each for having the most grant winners.
Each month the Greene County Board of Education recognizes students from the different county schools with student spotlight. During the October Board meeting, five Greene Early College students were recognized for leadership, citizenship, academic achievements, and innovative initiatives. Northeast Elementary School needs to raise more than $2,900 to fully qualify for a solar energy grant it won earlier this year. The school is asking Lenoir County to run to its assistance.

Greene Early College has partnered with the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville for their on-going fundraiser initiative, “Pull Together”, which helps support the two houses in Greenville. The facilities are a “home-away-from-home” for families of children receiving medical treatment on an inpatient or outpatient basis. The House is a temporary place to stay and is not a treatment facility.

October 20th was a special Wednesday at Parrott Academy as students and teachers marked the National Day on Writing sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English. Teachers. Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. On Fridays, these students are presented with an award from the counselor, Mrs. McLawhorn, or an administrator and are congratulated for their hard work.
