GKCU and LCC Partner for Cars for College

The Greater Kinston Credit Union (GKCU), a non-profit chartered credit union under the laws of the State of North Carolina, is partnering with Lenoir Community College to assist students in financing vehicles through the LCC Cars for College program, a program that was created to help eliminate transportation barriers for attending classes and finding employment.

Three week mask mandate for Lenoir County Public Schools

The Lenoir County School Board met on Monday, August 9, 2021. One of the items on the agenda up for discussion was the COVID-19 Response Plan for Opening the 2021-22 School Year. The discussion of mask-wearing was what most in attendance wanted to discuss. Board member W.D. Anderson made a motion that mask-wearing be required for all Lenoir County Public Schools for the first three weeks. The vote to approve the three-week mask mandate was five for the motion and two against, with Billy Davis and Keith King dissenting.

Parrott Academy welcomes new head of school

David Moody of Kinston will lead Arendell Parrott Academy as Head of School beginning in August. Moody has most recently served as an Assistant Superintendent in Jones County. He has seven years of experience as an administrator at both the elementary and high school levels and served as the county Director of Curriculum and Instruction. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Education at East Carolina University. He also has a Master’s in School Administration from E.C.U.

Snow Hill Primary Terrific Kid Awards

Snow Hill Primary is keeping the weekly Terrific Kid Awards going during the summer! Each teacher chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. At the end of the week, these students are presented with an award from the counselor, Mrs. McLawhorn, or an administrator and are congratulated for their hard work.
