A man wanted on multiple charges was apprehended Wednesday by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and sent to jail with new charges and no bond.
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at around 8:46 p.m., Leonardo Orgas, 44, of Snow Hill, NC, was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of US Hwy 70 when he was stopped by KPD’s A-Squad. After an investigation, Orgas was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired.
On September 13, 2024, KPD officers conducted a traffic stop with Rico Davis (30 of Lenoir County). Officers discovered Davis was wanted for Federal Probation Violations. Officers took Davis in custody without incident. Davis was placed in the LC Jail without bond.
KPD officers on D-Squad responded to a residence on the 900 block of Savannah Lane at the request of The Department of Adult Corrections. KPD was requested to stand by while the Probation Officer conducted a residential check on Michael Stevens (22 years old).
A fugitive from Ohio and Pennsylvania was arrested and jailed Thursday in Kinston by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office C-Shift deputies.

On September 9, 2024 at approximately 12:51 a.m. officers on D-Squad responded to a B&E at 801 Greenbriar Road. Officers arrived on scene and located the front door had been broken into. Officers were immediately able to identify the suspect as a 13 year-old Kinston resident.
On September 8, 2024, officers from D-Squad were patrolling the area of Jack Rountree when officers observed a vehicle occupied by Jalen Andrews (22 of Kinston) who was wanted for felony probation warrants.
On September 7, 2024, at approximately 1:39 p.m., officers on B-Squad responded to a single vehicle crash in the parking lot of Walmart. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver, Randy Powell (43 of Lenoir County) unresponsive.
The KPD is currently attempting to identify the subject in the photo. It was reported that he stole lottery tickets from the Murphy Express.
On September 3, 2024 at approximately 11:07 pm, officers responded to a vehicle crash on Highway 258 North. Officers arrived on scene and located Daniel Cooley (49 of La Grange).
On September 4, 2024, at approximately 07:45 am, officers from KPD's A-Squad responded to Frances Place & Independence Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash
On September 3, 2024, Officers on D-Squad were patrolling the area of Jack Rountree Apartments. During this time, officers observed a vehicle parked with the door open. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with Charles Cox (31 of Deep Run, NC) sitting in the back seat.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, Tyrone Artis (23 of Kinston) was arrested for his involvement in this incident. Artis was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond
David Newsome, 44, and Tracy Newsome, 49, both of Kinston, were arrested last Thursday after allegedly stealing metal from a Judy Lane residence.
On August 29, 2024, officers on B-Squad responded B-Squad responded to a report of a breaking & entering at a residence on Terminal Street.
On August 29, 2024, officers on D-Squad responded to a report of a trespass at Food Lion located at 2407 N Herritage Street. Officers arrived on scene and were advised Henri Frizzell had previously been banned from the property and had returned.
On August 29th, 2024, Detectives with the Kinston Police Department obtained and served warrants on Davontae Moore, T-Derrik Artis. Detectives also obtained additional warrants for Joshua Wilson. All of these warrants were related to the shooting that occurred in Mitchell Wooten on Monday, August 26, 2024.
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at approximately 11:21 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the 15 building of Mitchell Wooten complex. Upon arrival, officers found Sylvester Arrington, 36, of Kinston, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
