KPD Officers responded to a report of a road rage incident involving firearms. Officers initiated a traffic stop with Dechawn Edwards (31, Wilson, NC). Edwards refused to cooperate with the officers and drove off. Officers pursued Edwards until he came to a stop.
Convicted felon arrested with concealed firearm during routine traffic stop

Officers conducted a traffic stop with Dariontre Drew (22 of Ayden, NC). During the traffic stop officers observed narcotic violations and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search officers located a backpack containing narcotics and 2 firearms. One of the firearms had been reported stolen from Ayden, NC. KPD Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject inside a business causing a disturbance and exposing himself. Officers conducted an investigation and placed Delanore Koonce under arrest for Indecent Exposure. He was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond.

Arrest made after gunshots fired in the air on Ivy Road
The Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a subject in a vehicle fired a gun in the air on Ivy Road. Officers located the vehicle and identified the Stanley Miller. During the encounter, officers observed a firearm inside the vehicle that was in plain view.

All traffic on Liddell Road -- from Eric Sparrow Road to Old Pink Hill Road -- has been blocked by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office due to a barricaded subject at a Liddell Road residence. When the situation is resolved, the road will re-open.
LCSO: Two month long narcotic investigation ends with 2 arrests, multiple drug charges
As a result of the investigation, along with the execution of the search warrants, a total of six firearms, more than 500 grams of cocaine, approximately 19 grams of fentanyl, Schedule VI-controlled substance and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were seized.
Kinston murder suspect caught in Pennsylvania
On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 2328 hours officers responded to the 400 block of N. Davis St. in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located Franklin Antonio Bowden II deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
LCSO investigating suicide within Lenoir County Jail
Christopher Shawn Tyndall, 38, of Pink Hill, was found unresponsive in the jail and was transported to UNC Lenoir Health Care, where he later passed away.
