The Kinston Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance regarding a possible financial card crime. On January 21, 2023, the subject in the photo used a financial card at EZ Pass Tobacco & Vape located at 701 Phillips Road in Kinston.
On February 3, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department's VCAT unit and the NC SBI, tracked and located a wanted fugitive out of Greensboro, NC.
On Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, warrants were obtained for Shy’qim Hooker, 22, of Kinston for his involvement in Saturday’s shooting incident. Hooker was arrested on Friday, February 3rd, 2023, without incident and charged with Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and Attempted Murder. He has been placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
On Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Criminal Action Team (VCAT) and Narcotics Detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office concluded a three month drug trafficking investigation.
On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at approximately 11:00 am members of the Kinston Police Department were called to the report of shots fired on the 800 block of Dixon St. Kinston, N.C. Upon arrival officers located several shell casings and discovered that a residence and vehicle had been struck by gunfire.

On 01/24/2023, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with apprehending two suspects in a Greene County Fraud case. 52 year old Richard Moore and 45 year old Kimberly Matthews, both of Kinston, were taken into custody in Lenoir County by Deputies after Greene County Investigators received information about their location.

With the help of the community and an investigation both subjects have been identified.
According to the Snow Hill Police Department’s Facebook Page, the department is seeking information in identifying an individual who is a person of interest in a breaking and entering investigation. The Kinston Police Department is asking for the publics assistance regarding a larceny. on January 19, 2023, two unknown white females received goods and services from a local nail salon. Both left the establishment without paying. They were seen leaving in a black BMW.
On Monday, January 23rd, 2023, at approximately 12:40 pm members of the Kinston Police Department were called to the report of shots fired in the vicinity of Mitchell Wooten Apartments.
Three men — Howie Quentin Jones, Eric Ashley Newcome and Timothy Michael Jones — have been jailed following search warrants being executed at a house on N.C. 58 South in Lenoir County.
