Structural failure of hog lagoon in Trenton

There was a structural failure of a hog lagoon at DC Mills Farm in Trenton last week that released approximately one million gallons of animal waste. The farm owners have worked hard to be sure the repairs they made are holding. They spent Christmas morning about the lagoon failures’ impacts instead of opening presents with their four daughters. “The full extent of the environmental impact for this spill is still under investigation,” said Robert Johnson, Public Information Officer Division of Energy, Mineral, & Land Resources.

Trenton to receive $995,000 in disaster relief funding

Any county resident wanting to be tested at the event must complete a virtual health screening prior to receiving a COVID-19 test.

NWS calling for approximately 4" of snow

At 4:02 Thursday morning, the National Weather Service in Morehead City increased the snowfall totals for much of our coverage area. Kinston and Snow Hill are expected to receive approximately 4” while Trenton is expecting 3”. There’s a 10% chance for 5-6” of snow.

Jones County Heritage Festival returns

The Jones County Heritage Festival is in full swing today with fun, food and music at the Jones County Fairgrounds and the Brock Mill House.
