SNOW HILL — U.S. Congressman Don Davis is urging the Town of Snow Hill to reconsider its decision to dissolve the municipal police department, as the town’s Board of Commissioners prepares for an emergency meeting scheduled for Monday, June 2, at 1 p.m. The meeting follows a 3-2 vote last week to disband the department and transition law enforcement services to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
SNOW HILL — The Town of Snow Hill has officially voted to disband its municipal police department, choosing instead to contract with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. In a special meeting held Monday at 5 p.m., the Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 against a motion to keep the local department intact. Commissioners Daniels, Washington, and Shackleford voted in favor of dissolving the police department, while Commissioners Andrews and Wilkes opposed the measure.

A Snow Hill man was sentenced to 50 months in prison for Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud related to Covid-19 loans. In March of 2024, TYREEK RASHEED EXUM, 26, was charged in a multi-count indictment alleging various offenses related to a Covid fraud scheme.
Snow Hill’s Board of Commissioners enacted major changes to the town’s business landscape this week, approving comprehensive changes to both zoning and food truck ordinances. On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at around 8:46 p.m., Leonardo Orgas, 44, of Snow Hill, NC, was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of US Hwy 70 when he was stopped by KPD’s A-Squad. After an investigation, Orgas was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired.

North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region posted the following on Friday: Today, local and county leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was held for the new Greene County EMS Station 3 on Highway 903 North in Snow Hill.
Officers from KPD's B-Squad received information related to a vehicle being driven with a stolen license plate. Officers located the vehicle in the area of W King Street and S Herritage Street. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver failed to stop and fled from officers.
Officers responded to 110 W Blount Street for crowd control as patrons were leaving J's Place. Officers received reports that Andrea Broadie (33 of Goldsboro, NC) was unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm. Initially, Broadie refused to comply with the officer's investigation.
KPD's D-Squad responded to the 700 block of Harding Avenue for a report of a vehicle B&E. Officers arrived in the area and located the offender, Zaire Corbitt (21 of Snow Hill, NC).

Snow HIll - On Friday, April 25, 2024, Greene County hosted the annual Special Olympics at the Athletic Complex of Greene Central High School. This year Greene County hosted 74 Athletes and 22 Young Athletes. The event has been held for over 30 years and each year the success of the athletes are celebrated by a multitude of people.

Officers on C-Squad initiated a traffic stop with Dewyer Freeman (32, Snow Hill, NC). During the traffic stop officers observed narcotic violations. During a search, officers located over 50 grams of marijuana packed for distribution and a concealed firearm. Freeman was arrested without incident and placed in the LC Jail for the following:
