The Lenoir Community College Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing Center, located at 3800 NC Hwy 58 in Kinston, offers classes in Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Integrated Machining, Industrial Systems Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. The state-of-the-art facility reopened in the fall and was previously used for Spirit training.

Free online classes are available to area high school students this fall at Lenoir Community College through the innovative Career & College Promise (CCP) dual enrollment program. Senior Vice President of Instruction and Student Services Dr. Deborah Grimes said that transfer courses are weighted the same as Advanced Placement for grade point averages on high school transcripts. “Many of our CCP students earn enough credits for a degree or credential by the time they graduate from high school. Tuition is free for all students enrolled in the pathway programs.”
It’s not every day that a person can be in the right place at the right time, but for Devan Shackleford of Kinston that’s where he found himself recently. Shackleford becomes the first recipient of a vehicle awarded through the Lenoir Community College Cars for College program.

Lenoir Community College recently was awarded a $10,000 grant through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to support LCC and the Greene County Family Literacy Program for the 2020-2021 school year. The amount of the grant is the maximum allocation for the category.

Ziprecruiter.com reports that the average salary for advanced manufacturing jobs in North Carolina is $58,000. Lenoir Community College’s new Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing Center at the NC Global TransPark is preparing local students to enter those jobs.
