On 06/04/25 at approximately 4:50pm, SHPD was dispatched to the 500 block of Jordan Ave. to investigate a reported shots fired call. Minutes later, Corporal Payton and Chief Smith arrived on scene and secured the area for investigative purposes.

SNOW HILL — The Town of Snow Hill has officially voted to disband its municipal police department, choosing instead to contract with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. In a special meeting held Monday at 5 p.m., the Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 against a motion to keep the local department intact. Commissioners Daniels, Washington, and Shackleford voted in favor of dissolving the police department, while Commissioners Andrews and Wilkes opposed the measure.
On Monday, December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:39 pm, officers from the Kinston Police Department, as well as additional emergency personnel from the Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue and Lenoir County Emergency Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on the 100 blk of E. Vernon Avenue involving 6 vehicles.
KPD Officers responded to the area of shots fired in the areas of the 200 block of E Vernon Avenue and the 600 block of Cooks Ally. A witness provided officers with an offender description and a vehicle description. As officers arrived in the area, the observed the described offender and the vehicle fleeing the area.
