TRENTON — Jones County commissioners approved opioid settlement funding agreements tied to Hope Mission of Coastal Carolina, adopted an internal artificial intelligence policy for county employees, and created a flood mitigation task force during the board’s March 2 regular meeting.
TRENTON – The Jones County Board of Commissioners met Aug. 4 at the Jones County Agricultural Building, approving public health and environmental health funding allocations, advancing a major housing revitalization grant, and accepting a $70,000 donation for park improvements, among other actions.
The Jones County Board of Commissioners convened on April 7th, 2025, for their regular meeting, addressing a wide range of topics from broadband expansion to concerns about volunteer emergency services funding.

The Jones County Commissioners lowered the tax rate by two cents in the 2021-2022 Jones County budget. The budget included a county-wide cost of living adjustment (COLA) increase of 2.5%. Jones County Commissioners were excluded from the first COLA increase in at least four years. Jones County Commissioner April Aycock felt as if the pandemic opened a lot of eyes with health care in Jones County. “We are extremely limited with our medical services in the county,” said Aycock. “So by the health department being expanded to five days a week, it provides more accessibility to our county.”
