North Carolina’s 8th Judicial District Family Accountability and Recovery Court received the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, now All Rise, Juvenile and Family Treatment Court Leadership Award at its 23rd Annual Conference in Houston, Texas on June 26, 2023. This national award shines a spotlight of commendation on a team which has demonstrated exemplary service to the family treatment court field.
2022 was an incredible year in the 8th Judicial District Family Accountability and Recovery Court (FARC)! Eight participants successfully completed the program. In FARC, participants have lost or are at risk of losing their children due to substance use which impacts ability to parent.
The ABC board presented checks to Lenoir County, Boys and Girls Club, Lenoir Community College, Lenoir County Recovery Courts, City of Kinston and Town of Pink Hill.
Earlier this month, and for the third time, a fire ripped through a house in Kinston. A house on Glenwood Avenue didn’t even make the local news. However, this morning, as I sit here in my warm home preparing for Christmas, I can’t help but shed a few tears for the house on Glenwood. For the House of Hope that will no longer be built there.
The Rural Justice Collaborative (RJC) Advisory Council has selected The Family Accountability and Recovery Court (FARC) in Lenoir, Wayne and Greene Counties as one of nine Rural Innovation Sites. These are the country’s most innovative rural justice programs which will serve as models for other communities
