The American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina (ACEC) awarded Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC, and Greene County Government the 2023 Grand Award of Engineering Excellence for renovating the former National Guard Amory building into the Greene County Operations Center.
LCC is proud of each of these students for their accomplishments and their decision to attend LCC for Engineering. The National Science Foundation and ECU’s Department of Engineering are helping to provide Lenoir, Jones, and Greene County students with the opportunity to further their education in Engineering through these funds, which will ultimately benefit our community through developing a skilled workforce.
What drove Kinston native Kirby Lee more than 20 years ago to go to engineering school was the possibility of working with his father in the family HVAC business. “My father actually told me if I wanted to work for his HVAC business at the time I needed to go to Engineering School and get my Professional Engineering license. The funny part is that I loved engineering so much that I didn't end up going to work for him and I’m still involved in the engineering community.”
