Michael Horne Jr. Eyes Mayorship for Pink Hill, Prioritizes Common Sense Leadership

Pink Hill, N.C. — With the 2023 Municipal Election approaching, business owner Michael Laurence Horne Jr. has announced his candidacy for the Town of Pink Hill Mayor. Horne, a native of Pink Hill and a former Town Commissioner from 1997-2007, emphasizes "common sense leadership" in his campaign.

Horne was born and raised in Pink Hill and is a graduate of South Lenoir High School. He has been an active member of the community, coaching local rec league sports and serving as a Cub Scout leader. The owner of Horne’s Outdoor Equipment and Horne’s Gym, he has operated his businesses for 35 and 28 years, respectively. Horne believes that his experience in both business and public service makes him a strong candidate for Mayor.

When asked about his motivation for running, Horne said, "My grandkids and the future growth of our town." He added, "You are treated as family and our customers are not just a number. Small communities must have that to thrive."

Horne plans to focus on local infrastructure, particularly "streets and drainage problems." He intends to continue working closely with the county, stating, "Our tax dollars should be spent with our county seat. Common sense zoning as it has been in the past helps make things smoother when opening a business or building a home."

On the topic of education, Horne said he feels that the schools "are run by the county, and they are doing a fine job." Horne aims to facilitate better partnerships with the county for improving various aspects of community life.

Addressing public safety concerns, Horne is pro-police and praises local law enforcement as some of the best in the state. "Safety is always a number one priority for me," Horne emphasized. He advocates for community watch programs and strong inter-municipal relationships.

As for environmental concerns, Horne believes in "common sense regulations" and plans to review current policies as needed.

To ensure transparency and public trust, Horne proposes open meetings without time limitations for public questions. He stated, "Transparency will be a number one priority for me. It makes for a much better relationship with the public."

Horne stressed the need for unity and face-to-face communication among community members and elected officials. "Leadership starts at the top. That is why I am running. I have over 35 years of leadership experience, including Town Government Experience," Horne said.

The 2023 Municipal Election is set to be a pivotal moment for Pink Hill, with Horne aiming to provide the leadership he believes the town needs.
