Description

Performs protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments, and related work as required. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Police Sergeant.

Duties include:

Operating a patrol car on an assigned shift to observe for violations of City, county or state laws, suspicious activities or persons, and disturbances of law and order.

Responding to radio dispatches and answering calls and complaints.

Administering first aid.

Serving warrants and making arrests.

Testifying in court.

Checking building security.

Responding to business and bank alarms.

Operating police traffic radar for speed law enforcement.

Investigating traffic accidents.

Securing information and evidence.

Directing traffic and enforcing traffic laws.

Conducting traffic surveys and checks.

Providing police escorts for parades, funerals, prisoners, bank deposits and special events.

Reporting unsafe conditions existing in streets or other public facilities.

Conducting and assisting with criminal investigations by preserving evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and performing property and evidence duties.

Preparing detailed reports.

Performing specific collateral duties as assigned, such as administrative duties, special response team, special operations, school resource officer, investigations, animal control, or other related duties.

Performing related tasks as required.

Requirements

Must possess either B.L.E.T. or State certification.
